While I would hope we all agree that abortion is morally abhorrent, nevertheless, Ms. Chambers raises some issues that most politically conservative Christians really haven't adequately addressed, in my opinion. It is one thing to be pro-life, to fight to overturn Roe versus Wade. Yet what should be done for the multitudes of children born into homes where they are doomed to a life of poverty and dysfunction? The vast majority of abortions performed in this country are for women who lack the economic means to properly care for this child. Yes, she and the father are responsible for their immoral actions, but what about the baby? Who is willing to give this baby a safe and secure home? The state social service agencies are already overly burdened with abandoned and abused children? To say that "I am fully pro-life," it seems to me, means that I must also address this issue in a meaningful manner. But I am not so sure that evangelical Christians have done enough here! What is your response? Does being pro-life mean more than simply voting for a candidate who claims the correct position politically?
